Go backpacking someday
To see the world, things dangerous to come to
I admit I’ve rarely watched any TV for the past ten years. I only watch the news. Until recently, I’ve got some time. A TV show created by an indie crew of three locals travelling around South America. The show is called “Backpacking Northern South America”, they travel from Colombia to Ecuador. I like some of the scenery and I decided to write it down. Someday I might go there, who knows?
This kind of travel show is usually marketed to young people. At my time, there were quite some fresh graduates who liked to participate in the working holiday. I heard many of them simply want to travel and have a taste of working overseas before getting a fucking boring full-time permanent job. If you’re still young, that could be once in a lifetime experience. But I can’t imagine going “backpacking” without worrying about the budget. Anyway, this time around we’ve got a host who studies Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. I don’t even know what that means.
Back to the topic, what caught my eye was the last few episodes. The crew went to the Galápagos Islands. Blue skies, blue ocean and wildlife. Who doesn’t like that? I think I will probably go there just for the scenery. In the show, seems like not many tourists going there. And that’s exactly what I want. Just travel there to stay for a week and enjoy the views. A totally stress-free and worry-free journey. Imagine that. Thing is, I’m not that kind of outdoor person.
Well, I guess I might or might not be the next Walter Mitty. I have no idea if that will actually happen. I wish I could, before getting even older. Just want to write this post on this blog for bookkeeping.
I also want to share a short film Make It Count (2012) by YouTuber Casey Neistat. It looks like it was filmed on a phone but I like the editing and the “beat”. This is what I call improvised to travel the world.
