Hello everyone. Today I’m going to share some upcoming RPGs that I look forward to. Although I’m pretty sure I might not have the time to play and collect them all. But I’m so damn excited to talk about it. So, here’s a quick post about those video games.

When it comes to RPGs, I’m a sucker. I shared my Switch game collection a while ago. Since I do not have a PS5 yet, but I’m glad that most of them are available on Switch.

As you might’ve noticed, several of the games are long-awaited big titles from Square Enix. As I see it, most of them are considered in the JRPG genre, or at least in that territory. Aside from JRPGs, I’m also in love with medieval fantasy games. I’d love to see Western RPGs like Dragon Age, The Witcher, or Skyrim VI (And yes, that was meant to be a joke 😎) to come out. Anyway, here’s my Top 10 games I wish to play.

  1. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
This is the most exciting game I’d like to get my hands on. I missed the chance to back the game before the Kickstarter campaign ends. I’ll pick the Switch version. Also, Konami announced Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will be releassed in 2023.
  2. Octopath Traveler II
I played the first game but couldn’t finish it. I’m in love with the soundtrack and the HD-2D pixel art and art style. If you have a Switch, this is one of the best games that you should own.
  3. Sea of Stars
A turn-based RPG with retro pixel art style. Here’s some character art. Man, look at that! The 2D sprite animation looks gorgeous. I’m sold! It’s a instant buy for me. I will get this one just for the box art!
  4. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
Very little information about this remake. I think it’ll probably come out in 2024.
  5. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
This is a game that need no introduction. If you own a Switch, it’s impossible not to get one.
  6. Chained Echoes
Another 16-bit retro RPG. After watching its gameplay, I think it’s much better than I thought. I do want a physical copy of the game on Switch but the price is a bit too deep at €174. We’ll see.
  7. Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
I played the second game on PS4 and I have to say, this is a good RPG. It feels so relaxed and the battle system is very solid and fun. Most importantly, Ryza is a very cute girl, haha.
  8. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion
I will definitely get this one since I do not have a PSP back then. FF VII has the best characters amongst any of the FFs.
  9. Granblue Fantasy Relink
This game was delayed for a very long time. I had almost forgotten about it. I hope it will be released next year.
  10. Final Fantasy XVI
This is the crown jewel of Square Enix. I was not satisfied when I played Final Fantasy XV. I hope this latest one doesn’t disappoint.

I like to buy games in physical format. I love cover art and the artwork inside the boxes. If I have got the chance, I may consider making my first purchase from Limited Run or iam8bit. I’m not sure if they can allow shipping to Hong Kong though. A while ago, I stumbled upon the box version of Spiritfarer in one of the local stores in my area but I hesitated. A week later it’s gone. So, next time if you want something, you better make your decision real quick.

I think I might have missed some titles, but this is what I can think of for now. See you next time.
