Things I’ve watched last year
I want to do a quick recap of what I’ve watched last year. I always wanted to document the movies and TV Shows I like. Just watching isn’t enough, rather, writing something about them will definitely help to digest.
Most of the films or TV Shows I watched are on Netflix. I consumed a lot. I’ve nothing better to do during the pandemic. Cinemas were closed for a very long time and even if it’s reopened I wouldn’t dare to go there. It’s a bit too soon.
I missed quite a lot of good movies. I went to the cinema twice last year just for watching Dune and The Suicide Squad. Dune is a must-watch in cinema, the best decision I’ve made. The cinematography and its soundtrack are phenomenal. As for The Suicide Squad, I like the previous one better.
Here is a quick list for rating the movies I’ve watched last year. Five stars are the highest rating. There’re at least maybe 20 more films that were not on the list. I just don’t have the time to get them all covered.

I love thriller movies. Amy Adams performed really well in The Woman in the Window. I like the story overall but it’s a bit predictable. My favorite part is no one trusts her, but still fights to the very end. Anyway, a nice film to watch. The three parts Fear Street are pretty good as well. Part three is the best one. It gives me some Strange Things vibe though. I think that is probably because of Sadie Sink.
Kate is the female version of John Wick. I like Mary Elizabeth Winstead, she nails it. Spoiler alert, she becomes short hair later in the film and that makes me like her more. The fight scenes were all very brutal. “Boom Boom Lemon” and “Cancer Bitch” are the keywords for the film.
For Western movies like The Power of the Dog and The Harder They Fall, not only I watched them twice but I re-watch the whole season of Godless and replaying the title sequence over and over again. Man, I love Western. Hopefully, Godless is going to get a season 2.
Don’t Look Up is surprisingly good. Jennifer Lawrence is just so funny. A very fun and entertaining film. It’s very good to watch this kind of comedy movie during the holidays. The film managed to convey a lot.
The most disappointing films will be no doubt Army of the Dead and Red Notice. I don’t even want to bother myself talking about them. In short, big names, big budget films but disappointing.
TV Shows in 2021
- Midnight Mass
- ★★★ 3/5
- Shadow and Bone S1
- ★★★★ 4/5
- Sweet Tooth S1
- ★★★★ 4/5
- Jupiter’s Legacy
- ★ 1/5
- Arcane S1
- ★★★★ 4/5
- Maid
- ★★ 2/5
- Cowboy Bebop
- ★★ 2/5
- The Witcher S2
- ★★★ 3/5
Netfilx is killing it. Most of the shows I enjoyed watching. Both Shadow and Bone and Sweet Tooth are the best. I love the art style, costume and soundtrack. I watched them twice as well! And for The Witcher, well, I like S1 more. In my opinion, it’s not on par with S1 in general. They went in the direction of “fight big monsters” to get more views. No. This ain’t The Witcher. This might possibly be another blog post material.
Arcane is the most surprising one. I never liked 3D. But they nailed it. Super good looking art style. Good story and characters. What else do you need?
I didn’t know Midnight Mass was directed by Mike Flanagan before I watch it. I do like The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. Well, it’s a bit too dramatic at the end. All the build up. It seems to me they’re rushing to end the filming because they don’t have enough time.
I haven’t finished watching Maid. I’ve only managed to watch the first two episodes of Cowboy Bebop.
To wrap up, I’ve watched so much more than the list above. But I simply don’t have the time to include everything. Also, I unsubscribed Netflix earlier this year in February. More on that later. So, see you in the next post!
