War. War never changes

After the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic closing ceremony, almost exactly the time Russia wage war against Ukraine. People talked about it for a while, but now people seem to get used to it. A war has been going on for months, yet we’re busy living our lives.

Allow me to express my opinions regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. To be precise, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine since Feb 2022. The war is still going on as of today.

I’m aware that someone may think a person like me, living on the other side of the planet, is not in the position to say anything. Pointing fingers at people, and judging them seems a bit unfair. Yes, you’re probably right.

Most people have never experienced war, it’s easy for us to comment on things. But let me ask you something. Why’d you watch (or read) the news? We want to know the happenings around the world. Even if the places seem too far away, or our cultures share nothing in common, we want to hear news about people.

Because we don’t want to be indifference.

Let me digress for a bit. That reminds me of a film, News of the World (2020) starring Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel.

No matter how hard I try, I couldn’t think of any reasons to justify the act of waging a war—killing thousands of innocent people.

This is wrong.

Meanwhile, some leaders from different countries, “support” Ukraine to fight against Russia. Til the last man standing, they say. Very heroic. How noble they are. They want the people of Ukraine to sacrifice their lives, for their own political/economic—or whatever—gain.

Those leaders are as disgusting as Russia’s invasion.

Do you agrees with them? To risk one’s life at war? “Stand with Ukraine” yet you worrying about what to eat at lunch.

I’m not suggesting Ukraine people should put their hands up and let Vladimir Putin kill them. No. I’m afraid I don’t have any answers for that.

It seems to me people of Ukraine might be manipulated by others. I’m not a fortune teller, I’m not able to learn the truth. But I fear they lost their lives for nothing. To fight a losing war while others are “eating popcorn”.

My whole point is, there shouldn’t be war. It has to be stopped. Aren’t there enough people who died already?

War will never be a Just Cause.

I will say it here again, I don’t claim to be a person with higher ethical standards than anyone. But that’s how I feel. I really want to express, to get this off my chest.

I do want to hear what you think on the subject. Please let me know, even if you disagree with me.

One last thing, I want to share with you is an Anime film: Howl’s Moving Castle ハウルの動く城(Hauru no Ugoku Shiro) (2004) by Studio Ghibli. One of the many Anime movies created by Hayao Miyazaki 宮崎(Miyazaki) 駿(Hayao). A lot of them carry the message of anti-war. Please watch it, if you’ve got the chance.
