Preface

Amongst many games that I played, I play Role-playing games mostly. No matter what genre of the games you play, It’ll always have a story to tell.

When I play a game, I find myself often attached to the characters or some part of the story. It’s interesting to see the backstory of a specific character. Sometimes, their stories are even more memorable than the protagonist’s.

There’re many aspects that define a game. A good narrative and character building plays a crucial part to an RPG. The fantasy story, world setting and music always immerse me. What I like most is the part you team up with party members. They fight alongside with you. The journey itself probably struck me the most. I love both western and JRPGs.

JRPGs such as Final Fantasy, Trails, Dragon Quest, Tales, and Persona are games that I played over the years. My top three games are: Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy XII, and Trails in the Sky. That’s quite a tough choice to make.

On the other hand, western RPGs that I like no doubt are The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Dragon Age Inquisition. I did want to include Mass Effect but I’m afraid it couldn’t make it in my top three list. I also played a bit of Dark Souls but what interests me is the atmosphere, art style, music, and the lore.

Combat system indeed is one of the important elements. If I have to choose, I’d prefer turn-based rather than action-focused.

There’ll be some takeaways when you finished a game. It’s like reading a novel or watching a film. A game offers interaction elements that won’t be available to books or films. That’s why I love Role-playing games.

For upcoming games, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Trails in the Dark II. I’m quite looking forward to.
